This project has a strong focus on design, since surrounding blocks are listed as cultural heritage. It honours the functionalistic values of fresh air, light, quality materials and practical solutions that facilitate daily life.

Johanneberg is a central and attractive part of Gothenburg and one of Sweden’s most well preserved districts of functionalistic architecture. Skanska has put great effort into ensuring that the design of the buildings is in harmony with their surroundings.

The block consists of one 17-story building and two 9-story buildings, with 158 apartments and shops. Considering the history of the area, a strong focus is on creating values of culture, art and architecture. White facades and rounded balconies are traditional functionalistic features, contrasted with foundations of dark natural stone. A stone sculpture will adorn the courtyard, adding to the strong identity of the block.

The houses are environmentally labeled with eco-friendly both on the inside and outside, with energy efficient windows and facades.
