Skanska

A residential block with 110 apartments is developed to meet the demands of the future population, with age-friendly solutions and public participation dialogue embracing ideas and opinions from neighbouring residents.

The municipality has a strong focus on public involvement in urban development and creatively making use of land while zoning plans are being developed. Skanska met these ambitions through an interim land use initiative.

Skanska engaged with neighbouring residents through a digital dialogue tool where they could suggest how to make use of the land before construction started. The result was an activity area for all ages including a playground, boule court, barbeque area, outdoor furniture, basketball court and parking.

Tolered will also be a pilot project in developing an age-friendly living concept, supporting Gothenburgs participation in the international WHO network for Age-friendly Cities. All members of the network have a common desire and commitment to promote healthy and active ageing and a good quality of life for their older residents.
