Imagine the possibilities when buses can run in areas closed off to traffic, or when a city no longer is dependent on noisy traffic. Volvo’s electric buses are regenerating Gothenburg’s city planning.
Gothenburg is currently the scene of ElectriCity – a cooperative venture bringing together industry, research and society in the development and testing of new solutions for next-generation sustainable public transport.
Officially opened in June 2015, Gothenburg’s new bus-route offers quiet, exhaust-free buses that pick up passengers indoors and are powered by electricity from renewable sources. This sustainable transport can operate in areas currently closed to traffic, thus opening up new possibilities for city planning.
